A kitchen garden behind the bakehouse. An old orchard heavy with apples. Hens in the yard, sheep on the meadow, and the long meadow rolling down to the water.

Oaks, junipers and birches rise from the headland — a place that offers peace, beauty, and the long quiet of the Swedish countryside.
Mornings begin slowly with the estate breakfast — soft eggs, warm bread from the oven, honey, fresh cheese, and fruit from the orchard.
Afternoons belong to the lake. The wood-fired sauna sits on the jetty; the water is cold and clear. Forage for chanterelles in the pines, walk the old paths through the birch grove, or settle in with a glass of natural wine by the hearth.
Quiet enough to forget the city. Close enough to it — ninety minutes from Stockholm by train or car.
We restore rather than build, cook from what's close by, and keep the place small on purpose.
Restored, not rebuilt
We work with what's already here — lime wash, linseed paint, beeswax, reclaimed timber.
Estate-grown menu
Glöd cooks from our own orchard, kitchen garden, forest and lake, with a few neighbouring farms.
A small house, on purpose
Six rooms, never more — quiet enough that you can hear the meadow.
Inside a UNESCO Biosphere
One of only seven biosphere reserves in Sweden. We farm and host to its standards.
Easy to reach
Ninety minutes from Stockholm by train or car; fifty-five from Uppsala. We collect guests from the station.
